Conservation Club

Join us for SVE’s Award-Winning Conservation Club!
Grades 4–6 only
The Conservation Club is a service-learning program designed to grow environmental literacy in kids. Students will develop a strong sense of community, learn about local environmental challenges, and gain the knowledge and skills to plan and take meaningful action.
We have some amazing things planned for the 2024–25 school year!
🌱 Composting Pilot Program
SVE and the Conservation Club have been selected as one of just a handful of schools to pilot composting on campus! Club members will lead the way—educating classmates and staff, setting up the system, measuring our waste diversion, and transforming SVE into a community compost and recycling hub.
🌳 Biodiversity Park
Although we hit a few roadblocks with this large project last year, installation is now scheduled for May 2025. Students will join us for an in-house field trip and help bring the park to life. Smaller projects, such as building birdhouses, will also be incorporated into the garden.
🦅 Kestrel Nesting Boxes
With the help of an American Kestrel expert, students built and installed nesting boxes last year. This year, we’ll continue monitoring them and reporting findings. These tiny raptors are declining nationwide—endangered in some states—and our students are helping scientists understand why and what can be done.
✨ Student Choice Projects
Students will also take the lead on their own projects, developing plans, educating their peers, and building school-wide support.
The first club meeting is Tuesday, September 3rd. We’ll meet most Tuesdays from 3:30–4:30 pm throughout the year.
